MSNBC's Chris Matthews Should Fact Check His Facts

| MSNBC's Chris Matthews says on a recent show--bloggers "don't fact check". |
According to Crooks and Liars, MSNBC's "Hardball" talking head Chris Matthews belittles “bloggers” by claiming they don't fact check. While it may be that many online smack-writers are tossing around scurrilous reports while standing on the shoulders of established news sources, nowadays the contingent of so called "bloggers" include seasoned reporters and columnists who blog for their print or broadcast company's online portal.

MSNBC.com's News Headline links lead to Ads on iGoogle

| The news headline links at MSNBC.com lead to ads on my iGoogle page.
Yesterday's ads linked from "Presented By" included a Sen. Gillibrand campaign ad about "dont' ask, don't tell" policy and the one above, about flooring. |

When I click on MSNBC U.S. business news headlines, I don't expect an ad for New York Senator Gillibrand's campaign highlighting her support of repealing the "Don't ask, Don't tell" military policy to appear. But that is what I got. Here is my iGoogle page and the issue-oriented Gillibrand ad that appeared yesterday even after hearing from a MSNBC.com rep that they would get back to me.
Since last week, I have been waiting for MSNBC.com...Go to full story

MSNBC News Headline links to Sen Gillibrand campaign ad on iGoogle

| HAPPY ACCIDENT? Was it a Google or MSNBC business news feed snafu that allowed New York's U.S. Senate appointee Kirsten Gillibrand's campaign ad to appear as an MSNBC.com news headline on my iGoogle page? |
When MSNBC.com business news headlines appear on my iGoogle page, I expect links to MSNBC news content--not to an advertisement for a U.S. Senate campaign.
But there it was last week. When I clicked on the headline "Presented By" for the "MSNBC.com U.S. Business," I found, instead of a news story, Senator Hillary Clinton's controversial replacement, Kirsten Gillibrand, seeking my vote.
I have contacted, MSNBC, Google and the Sen....Go to full story

Is CNN & MSNBC Reporting or Making News About Micheal Jackson's Estate?

With wall to wall news stories about pop legend, Michael Jackson's death, MSNBC and CNN news still feel the need to speculate what will happen in the future instead of just reporting the facts.
One MSNBC headline states, (emphasis mine) "Jackson's merchandise sales could eclipse those of Presley or Monroe." Another says,"Settling Jackson's estate could be a thriller" speculating that there may be a fight with no evidence that one exists.

MSNBC Misattributes Photo:

| Note the credit lines states MSNBC...but it's not their photo! Flickr user, Melanie Phung commented,"There's no excuse for sloppy reporting. It's bad enough when small publishers (e.g., bloggers) 'accidentally' forget to attribute, but a news source like MSNBC knows and can do better." Photo illustration by Imajes (Great catch.) |

A photo of the US Airways jet that crashed into the Hudson River should make citizen journalists think twice about 'terms of use' contracts on websites like MSNBC.
The photo was first posted on Twitter by user 'jkrums' - Janis Krums of Florida - but quickly reappeared across the web. Krums was on a ferry going to rescue people when he posted the photo. Flickr user natekoechley posted the picture with a clear disclosure that it was not his, and therefore not his to distribute....Go to full story

The “Green Machine” :
| MSNBC News “pimps” their ride |
| by London Shearer Allen, StinkyJournalism.org |

| When MSNBC posted an Incredible Hulk, "Green Machine" quiz, it was part of a publicity campaign for Universal Studio's new movie. However, there was no disclosure by MSNBC that they were helping promote their parent company's product. At the same time that they were helping flog the Hulk,"Green Machine," MSNBC was also marketing yet another "Green Machine"-- their own, so-called, news gathering vehicle. Note: Even the slogan emblazoned on the MSNBC "green machine" car states, "green is universal." Is this coincidence or another nod to Universal Studios? |

MSNBC and Fox News election coverage has gone green – did anyone notice? (hat tip: Media Bistro). News reports have been coming in from the two networks’ “ecologically friendly newsgathering vehicles.” Fox News’ dubbed theirs the "Election Link" vehicle. One assumes MSNBC’s more whimsical name, “Green Machine,” refers to the green movement – right?
Maybe not. MSNBC’s Green Machine, a Ford...Go to full story
