FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Checkyourfacts.org Merges With Stinkyjournalism.org

January 17, 2008

To Our Readers and Stakeholders,

Because of content overlap and a burning desire for simplicity, we have merged our sister blog, Checkyourfacts.org, with Stinkyjournalism.org.

All articles published on Checkyourfacts.org between January 2007 and December 2008 are now available on Stinkyjournalism.org.

You will also notice some enhanced features on Stinkyjournalism. These are intended to better organize content and make navigating the site’s wide-ranging subject matter – from monster pigs to presidential coverage – simpler. It is now possible to sort articles by author, news section and topic. These categories can be accessed in drop down menus located just under our banner.

George Wax-On, head of corporate communications for Art Science Research Laboratory explains that the concept behind the merger goes beyond cutbacks and cost savings. "Did you ever see that cartoon, the one with the little robots that join together to make the bigger, more powerful robot? That's kind of what's going on here at ASRL, except with media ethics sites instead of robots." Wax-On states. "Big media, take note. This merger of two of the Internet's most incisive media watchdog sites marks an important synergy.”

Though the articles are now contained in the same database and the staff, as before, is “huddled closely” in the offices at 62 Greene Street, ASRL director, Rhonda Roland Shearer, says, “Editorial independence will be maintained despite the content sharing arrangement.”

ASRL has given notice of this merger to the Securities and Exchange Commission. For the sake of transparency, here is a quick itemization of revenues and liabilities:

Operations

Total revenues: $0

Earnings [loss] from operations after pizza, pens, magazines and newspapers, and various other expenses including a how-to book on optical illusions, a bottle of “steak smell” car interior cleaner, two pairs of men’s booty shorts, eight pairs of cotton Oxford pajamas, postage for unanswered FOIA requests, long distance calls to Olympian media company executives and unimpeachable editors and ombudsmen:
(Who’s keeping track? )

Shearer says the slow response from the S.E.C. could be related to ASRL’s 501(3)c, not-for-profit status.
