StinkyJournalism launched an investigation after bloggers and others questioned the validity of a Reuters photograph that featured an unburnt doll lying on top of the charred remains of a California house. Now Reuters is stonewalling efforts to bring in fire engineering experts to analyze high resolution photographs.

StinkyJournalism is also investigating the possibility that a Reuters photojournalist trespassed on private property to obtain photographs of a tragically destroyed home. Buffalo area media outlets reported the “bizarre and disturbing” story of two-year old pitbull named "Bear" raping a two-year-old child. StinkyJournalism.org finds two misquoted experts crying foul; hospital saying child protection agency is involved; an SPCA Executive Director revealing that mother has “relocated” and giving StinkyJournalism advance notice of results of dog's official behavioral analysis.
The voice on Buffalo, New York's WBEN news radio broadcast promised “bizarre and disturbing” news about “an attack on a small boy by a pit bull.” The mother claimed that the dog allegedly anally raped her two-year-old son. The toddler had reconstructive surgery, and is in the Buffalo's Women's & Children's Hospital. The dog is locked up at the Niagara County SPCA, and the mother is demanding that it be euthanized as soon as possible.

It's unclear whether the story was reported the way it was out of a misplaced sense of propriety, or lurid sensationalism. Evidence, however, indicates that the press has lent credibility to the preposterous alibi of a child rapist, leaving a two-year-old in continued danger of molestation while sending an innocent pit bull to be put to sleep.

A "Brutal" Speculation

Five-year-old Monique Fulgham was brutally raped and murdered, the New York Daily News said, but it turned out to be an accident.

*Note: MonsterPig.com has continually changed since its inception. These changes have become more drastic since StinkyJournalism's investigation began in late May. Most notably all the photos of Monster Pig have been removed except for one that has clearly been photoshopped. Therefore all MonsterPig.com links are referenced from our archive.
What's going on in these six dramatic MonsterPig.com photographs? Stinky Journalism sought retired NYU physicist, Richard Brandt's analysis as press reports cited no scientific opinions about the photos, which locals and hunters found suspicious. Stinky Journalism puts the photos to the test, with resident trick photography expert and Art Science Research Laboratory director Rhonda Roland Shearer's special report.

AP photo fails stink test according to retired NYU physicist, Richard Brandt
Scientific measurements prove that if the boy is 5 feet 5 inches, as cited, the pig would measure a colossal 15 feet (and not the 9 feet, 4 inches, which was claimed)
Alternatively, Brandt's report states, the boy would measure a puny 3 feet 9-1/2 inches instead of 5 feet 5 inches, if the beast's length is calculated at 9 feet 4 inches

Awe-inspiring photograph of boy hunter and his kill. Here lies the monster pig and slayer, Jamison Stone, 11 years old.

The Associated Press News Wire, followed by FOX News, reported that a "monster pig" had been shot by an eleven-year-old boy in rural Alabama. A dramatic photo (see Figure 2) accompanied the story. It showed the young hunter, Jamison Stone, a hardy 5 feet 5 inches, leaning on the back of the stupendous and dead 1,051 pound, 9 foot 4 inch, feral pig. This striking photo, which ran on the front page of the Saturday May 26th New York Post created an international news stir.
One problem. Evidence collected by Stinky Journalism indicates that the photos, which ran on televisions and newspapers throughout the world, are not the straightforward snapshots they seem--but fakes.

A staggeringly inaccurate account appeared on the website of news channel WNBC about Critical Mass, a monthly bike ride described as a “celebration,” “gathering,” and “protest” occurring in cities around the world. In WNBC's 118-word article, an impressive 49 words communicated misleading or inaccurate information.

Adam Klasfeld's pursuit of correction became a maddening lesson in the fickle evolution of a flawed news story. But no one ever said evolution was simple or straightforward. The process was mapped against a modified version of Darwin's "March of Progress," which he renamed the "Ascent of Truth."

NY DAILY NEWS CASTS BIG APPLE AS MAYBERRY
