Submissions
If you are interested in writing for StinkyJournalism.org, please have a look at some of our recent stories and the guidelines below.
- We are looking for short dispatches and essays (250-750 words) on the new terrain of new media. Ideas for feature stories (1500-3000 words) should be preceded by a letter of inquiry. Please submit your story in the body of an email or as a Microsoft Word attachment.
- Simplify the writing, not the information. The articles are intended for a general audience. If your article deals with information of a highly technical nature, please simplify the language for a general readership. We may also ask for verifying documents such as links to reports and/or graphics to help illustrate your point.
- Ideally, your piece should illuminate some larger phenomenon or happening in new media. Find parallels. Look for trends. Put yourself in the journalist's shoes and ask, what could the writer have done differently to get this information right?
- Keep it targeted, readable and constructive.
- We are particularly interested in stories from students and teachers of journalism that illustrate differences between what's happening in the classroom and what's being practiced in the field.
